Set in 50 acres of open county, the Weald & Downland Museum, in West Sussex is a collection of traditionally constructed rural buildings, the oldest dating from the 13th century; that have been saved from destruction. All of the buildings have been painstakingly dismantled before being transported to their new site. Traditional activities, such as weaving and cooking over open hearths are practised. The centre also teaches traditional building and making techniques, as well as running courses on building conservation.
