The existing dwelling is a semi detached three-storey house early Victorian house within the Bartholomew Estate Conservation Area of Kentish Town. It has a slate pitched hipped roof with a lead clad dormer to each elevation.
The intention was for the new works to contrast with the existing dwelling, whilst adding to the character and enhancing the qualities of the surrounding context. The proposed massing will echo the existing rhythm of the rear terrace. Care has been taken to ensure that the massing of the new elements can be clearly read as new, subservient, components to the existing dwelling.
