Define the Brief

Clients should aim to define the key points of their brief at the outset of any project.

Establishing these elements early on ensures a clear design scope and helps guide the design process effectively. The brief may take many forms, depending on the specific requirements and preferences of the client. For example it might include:

  • A detailed timetable of your daily routines,
  • a scrap book or mood board of  inspiring images,
  • a simple list of must-have and nice-to-have requirements,
  • columns distinguishing between essential features and desirable additions.

As the project progresses the brief is likely to evolve. However, it is important to start the process at the earliest opportunity. Your architect will assist in refining the brief, keeping accurate records of discussions, updates and changes as the project develops.
