The existing dwelling is a semi detached three-storey house early Victorian house within the Bartholomew Estate Conservation Area. It has a slate pitched hipped roof with a lead clad dormer to each elevation.
It is intended that the new works will contrast with the existing dwelling, whilst adding to the character and enhancing the qualities of the surrounding context. Care has been taken to ensure that the massing of the new elements can be clearly read as new, subservient, components to the existing dwelling. Additionally, the proposed massing will echo existing rhythm of rear of terrace.
